BIOGRAPHY

Pablo Carrascosa Llopis (Valencia, 1979) graduated in composition at ESMUC and in architecture at ETSAV. One of his most professional achievements was being guest composer at L’Auditori Barcelona during the 2019/2020 . As part of this residency, he was commissioned to write an orchestral work for the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), a piece for two ensembles with electronics, and a pedagogical project developed in collaboration with the Departament d’Ensenyament de L’Auditori and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)

Carrascosa is also a regular collaborator in contemporary dance. He has been a three-time finalist at the Barcelona Premis de l’Institut del Teatre, winning first prize in 2017 with Handle With Care (premiered at Festival Grec the same year) and second prize in 2018 with The Milk. In the field of audiovisual music, he received the Jerry Goldsmith Award in 2015 for Best Score for Animated Short Film.

Alongside composition, he performs as a live-electronics/modular synth artist and has recently released several experimental techno tracks, expanding the boundaries of the genre through his distinctive musical perspective.

Since 2019, Carrascosa has been artistic director of the contemporary music ensemble CrossingLines, one of Spain’s leading groups in the field. Under his direction, the ensemble has played a pivotal role in developing contemporary music both nationally and internationally, with upcoming projects integrating his singular musical and scenic vision.

Pablo is professor at Taller de Músics Escola Superior d’Estudis Musicals and at ESMUC, where he combines teaching with pedagogical research. He has been a continuous participant in Els compositors entren a l’aula since 2015–2016, a project run in collaboration with UAB and L’Auditori de Barcelona’s educational program.

His music explores rhythm, musical objects, and space through an architectural lens. It highlights the relationship between concept and abstraction, structure and perception, while drawing strong influence from Extreme Metal and Techno.

Forthcoming projects:

  • Release of his solo piano work L4DL4 with Neu Records

  • Premiere of a string quartet with modular synthesizer in collaboration with the German Pulse Quartet

  • Performance as modular synthesizer player in eRikm’s project Murmuration at L’Auditori Barcelona

  • Release of several new experimental techno pieces

  • Artistic direction of various concerts with CrossingLines
